The JBL Partyboxes are the best in the market. Yeah I said it, but I’m not being hyperbolic – pit them against any of the competition and they will blow it away.
Right now they have a handful of portable options, meaning they have a built-in battery that allows you to take them anywhere.
This includes the smaller JBL Partybox Encore Essential and the JBL Partybox On The Go models, both great in their own rights, but in this review we are going to focus on the bigger of the portables, the JBL Partybox 110 and the JBL Partybox 310.
They both serve a different need, so if you are trying to decide which one to get, we will help you decide in this article
The JBL Partybox 110 is the Most Portable
We’ll start with the smaller of the two, since this is the model we use non-stop.
(BTW we have each model of Partybox available. Yes, we are that into them.)
It’s just the right size for tailgating, having a party at the beach, or using for events.
At 23 pounds weight it’s small enough for the wife to lug around, and she’s just a wee-tiny thing.
She hosts a lot of events, so uses it as a PA system in conjunction with a pair of JBL PMB100 Wireless Microphones.

I use our Partybox 110 as a bass amplifier and PA system when we do garage band at our buddies house since it’s basically a glorified JBL Pro speaker with blinky lights and Bluetooth.
When we do cover songs, I Bluetooth the song we are playing along with on the speaker and we have two people singing and the bass on it all at the same time.
There is a stand mount on the bottom, so you can mount it to a tripod speaker stand if you want to get it up off the ground.
So if you are a bassist or vocalist looking for a speaker that does more than just a boring old PA system, check out the Partybox 110.
OK but how does it sound?
Awesome! We love the sound on the Partybox 110. This thing hits super hard and if you put it in front of a wall and punch the BassBoost button you’ll get the jam going with incredible lows and really clean all-around sound.
Next to our Partybox 710, which is what we use everyday for listening to our extensive record collection, our PartyBox 110 gets the most milage.
Other Partybox 110 Features
In addition to Bluetooth and the two Microphone / Guitar inputs the Parybox 110 also has some other great features (these same apply to the Partybox 310 as well.)
The light show on the front of the speaker is really well done. It really punches up the space when you are hosting an event at night. It syncs to the music and it has multiple color modes and patterns.
The battery on the 110 gets you 12 hours of playback time.
The 110 is IPX4 rated, so it can get some water on it without breaking. It can’t be thrown into a pool, but if it starts to rain or some drunk bro dunks a beer on it theres no need to worry.
You can use a USB stick or connect via aux cable for alternate source inputs.
Whats awesome about the Partybox 110 is that you can wirelessly pair multiple units together, and if you have two you can get true left and right stereo separation. Dope!
Last but not least is the App, which you run on your phone or tablet, which givens you complete remote control of the speaker. Run the entire party from your phone!

But Here Comes the JBL Partybox 310!
OK electromodo guy, the 110 sounds great but I NEED THE LOUDEST SPEAKER ALWAYS, YO!
Well then, allow me to introduce you to the JBL Partybox 310.
At 240 Watts of power (vs. 160 W for the Partybox 110) the 310 is loud enough to whomp the competition at the tail gate party into oblivion.
At nearly 39 pounds, it’s not exactly portable, but JBL did a nice job of adding wheels and a telescoping handle (like a suitcase) to make transporting it easier.
You’re on your own getting it in and out of the truck though!
Like the 110 the JBL Partybox 310 is IPX4 rated splash proof, and has all the same inputs, etc.
The one thing the 310 lacks over the 110 is the new light package that JBL included in the 110 and 710 models. It’s missing the around the box light wrap (for lack of a better term) and the staggered strobe lights.
Does that matter much? It’s not as visually cool as some of their other speakers, and it does make a big difference on the mood the newer light style speakers can create in darker environs. It just depends on what you want to use it for.
Which Partybox Should You Get?
Our favorite is the Partybox 110. It’s the right size for portability and the light show on it is awesome.
If you are planning on hosting serious parties or events, or just want to be the loudest kid on the block, then the Partybox 310 will get you there for sure.
